The Weinig management board with Wolfgang Pöschl, Gregor Baumbusch and Gerald Schmidt along with the head of the new business unit Automation & Digital Business, Jochen Ganz and Dr Otto Leible from Weinig Concept.
As Weinig continues to press ahead with digitisation, the market leader in machinery and systems for solid wood and panel processing has created a structure for maximum efficiency in dealing with the challenges ahead; a new business unit, Automation & Digital Business.
“With this decision, we are strategically and organisationally aligning our company to the future, which will be characterized by a greater significance of project business and digitisation,” CEO of Weinig, Wolfgang Pöschl, said.
Consequently, the new company unit will be located at Weinig Concept GmbH & Co KG, where Weinig’s engineering activities take place. Jochen Ganz, who is currently head of the product unit service, was appointed managing director. As part of Concept, he will act as the second head alongside Dr Otto Leible, who will continue to head Engineering, his traditional field of responsibility.
Ganz has worked with Weinig in Tauberbischofsheim, Germany, in the field of digitisation, and was significantly involved in the development of the successful Weinig App Suite.
The establishment of Automation & Digital Business is the third major Weinig initiative in this era of Industry 4.0. Following the introduction of the Weinig’s W4.0 digital standard, the digital alliance MindSphere World was co-founded in January this year. Under the leadership of Siemens AG, the members of the organisation worked together on the cloud-based Siemens IoT operating system, and helped Weinig to further develop W4.0 digital and optimise it for the benefit of its customers.
“Customer benefits will remain an outstanding and unique strength of Weinig on the market even in the age of digitisation,” Chief of Sales and Marketing Officer, Gregor Baumbusch, added.
