Vietnam is the world’s fourth largest exporter of wood and wood-based products after China, Germany and Italy, according to the Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of Ho Chi Minh City (HAWA).
Export turnover for wood and wood-based products in 2015 was US$6.9 billion, up 10.7% over the previous year. However this figure is still below the initial projection of US$7 billion.
The U.S., China, Japan and the EU were the largest import markets for Vietnam.
This year’s earnings are expected to hit approximately US$7.2 billion with growth rate approximating 8-10%.
