Vietnam: general increase in wood and wood product exports in November 2021

According to statistics from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs, exports of wood and wood products in November 2021 reached US$1.27 billion, up 2.5% compared to November 2020.

In particular, exports of wood products reached $915.7 million, down 9.9% compared to November 2020. Over the 11 months of 2021, wood and wood products exports reached $13.4bn billion, up 21% over the same period in 2020. The export of wood products reached $9.99bn, up by 18% over the same period in 2020.

Wood and wood product exports to the UK in November 2021 amounted to $23.7m, up 26% compared to November 2020. In the 11 months of 2021, wood and wood products exports to the UK market reached $239.4mn, up by 16% over the same period in 2020.

Wood and wood product exports to Australia in November 2021 were valued at $17.2m, down 11% compared to November 2020. In the 11 months of 2021, wood and wood products exports to Australia reached $149.9m, up by 2.8% over the same period in 2020.

The statistics by the General Department of Customs also reported that Vietnam’s wood imports in November 2021 amounted to 458,300m3 which is worth $158.2m, up 14.4% in volume and 1.7% in value compared to October 2021. However, compared to November 2020 imports decreased by 23% in volume and 11% in value.

In the 11 months of 2021, imports of wood raw materials reached 5.948 million m3, worth $2.01bn, experiencing an increase of 9.2% in volume and 22.4% in value over the same period in 2020.

Vietnam’s ash imports in November 2021 reached 15,600m3 worth $3.7m, which is down by 36% in volume and 39% in value compared to October 2021. Compared to November 2020, however, imports decreased by 39% in volume and 39% in value. In the 11 months of 2021, imports of ash reached 409,600 m3, worth $5.5m, down by 11% in volume and 6% in value over the same period in 2020.

Vietnam’s exports of non-tropical forest products (NTFP) in November 2021 were recorded at $79.11m, up by 15.8% compared to October 2021 and up 39.4% compared to November 2020. In the 11 months of 2021, exports of NTFP amounted to $780.08m, up by 43.9% over the same period in 2020.
