Vanke Future Town’s demonstration area inspires reverie with its timber structures

Located by the Yunlong Lake in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, and occupying more than a million square metres, the launched project, Vanke Future Town, is a grand community with abundant landscape resources, and the demonstration area was the first structure of the project to be completed.

Inspired by the ancient timber arch bridges such as Beijian Bridge, Xidong Bridge, Xuezhai Bridge, and the Santiao Bridge in Taishun, Wenzhou, and its surrounding areas, the demonstration area hearkens back to traditional Chinese architecture.

Glue-laminated timbers (glulam) of different lengths are used as basic components, establishing a system of continuous triangles and inverted triangles, which slopes gently.
