Private construction of offices, health care facilities, lodging and educational buildings in the US grew in February. The private commercial market declined from the previous months. Private construction remained healthy while the decrease was mainly in public building construction. Non-residential construction also declined in January and February from the higher levels of investment at the end of 2015 (at seasonally adjusted annual rates).
The American Institute of Architects reported improved business conditions for March. The commercial/industry sector was stable or showed modest growth. The institutional building sector declined in the first quarter.
