U.S. hardwood plywood import from China recovers in May

U.S. hardwood plywood imports recovered in May this year after a 4-month decline, rising 27% to reach 268,735 m3 totalling US$159 million, according to the ITTO. Year-to-date import volumes were up 3% but the value of imports fell 5%.

The recovery was driven by increased imports from the Mainland- 55% jump from the previous month to 157,103 m3. Canadian shipments to the U.S. also increased while imports from Indonesia declined to 21,779 m(-7%).
