The Tropical Suburb House located at the Nha Be District in Ho Chi Minh City is a private residential house. Designed by MM++ Architects, a Vietnamese design firm, the design seaminglessly combines traditional Vietnamese design elements with modern western aethetics. This can be seen in both the facade and the interiors.
The facade is a traditional Vietnamese house with a modern twist, as seen in the straw roof commonly found in Vietnamese houses of the older days, and the rustic exposed concrete and brick structural beams and walls. They are delicately contrasted by the corrugated pattern of the concrete walls surrounding the house as well as the touch of wood used on the doors, which coincide with the tonal colour of the solid wood furniture inside.
