Nick Steel is the newly appointed CEO of the Tasmanian Forest Products Association
The Tasmanian Forest Products Association (TFPA) has announced the appointment of Nick Steel as its first chief executive officer (CEO).
Officially launched in May 2020, TFPA represents the Tasmanian forest industry, specifically its interests and concerns to the community and with local, state and federal governments. Membership includes major growers and processors who are part of Tasmania’s sustainable forest products industry, in native forestry and plantation, softwood and hardwood.
“I’m not only honoured to take on this role, but excited about the prospects of the Tasmanian forest industry,” said Steel. “There is no doubt I have big shoes to fill with Terry Edwards who has been the face of forestry for some time. I will bring a different style and approach but understand that TFPA is a member-based organisation with one of its roles to develop a forward-looking sustainable forest industry.”
Terry Edwards is the outgoing Chief Executive of the Forest Industries Association of Tasmania, which is being replaced by the TFPA.
“Nick comes to this new role having spent over 10 years working for the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association at senior levels, and that experience has given him a solid grounding in the issues the industry faces and the skills in representing its members’ concerns to government and other stakeholders,” said Ross Hampton, Chief Executive of the Australian Forest Products Association.
