Ta Ann aims for PEFC certification

Ta Ann has obtained approval from the Sarawak government to restructure its own forest plantation.

It will now own three naturally-grown timberland and two plantations, accelerating forest certification under the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme, which is PEFC-certified. The company has been working with the Sarawak Forestry Department, universities and National Environmental Academy for this purpose.

Ta Ann uses logs from its own timberland so that traceability is high. Once it receives approval from MTCS, all Ta Ann plywood will be considered PEFC-certified products.

Ta Ann also produces Eucalyptus veneer from PEFC-certified logs Tasmania, Australia. The veneer is shipped to its headquarters in Sarawak and converted into PEFC-certified plywood, which is supplied to Japan.
