Sweden’s wood chips decline in the second quarter of 2016

According to the Swedish Forest Agency, as of June this year, Sweden’s total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and wood chips is estimated to 8.3 million m³ (cubic metres solid volume excluding bark). This is a decrease by 6% compared with the same period last year.

Stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs is estimated to be 2.7 million m³, a 10% decline as compared to the same period last year. The stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs decreased in all wood balance regions with the exception of region 2. The largest stock volume of 1.1 million m³ is in wood balance region 1, which is in the northern part of Sweden.

The stock volumes of wood chips is estimated to 0.9 million m³, a 4% decline as compared to June last year.
