Sustainability as keynote: interzum 2023

Maik Fischer, director of interzum

From 9-12 May 2023, interzum will once again present itself to the international trade audience with its claim “Shaping the Change”.

Following the digital interzum @home 2021, the trade show will once again take place as a live experience in the Cologne exhibition halls.

Decision-makers, opinion leaders, multipliers and trend-setters from all over the world will find out about innovations and new products on site, gather inspiration, strengthen existing business relationships and make new customer contacts.

According to the organisers, a total of over 1,500 exhibitors from around 60 countries are expected. In addition to big companies, many small think tanks will again be represented.

The international exhibitors will present a diverse range of new technologies, materials and surfaces, showcasing the latest manufacturing processes, trends and visions of future living spaces.

Resource conservation, sustainability, upcycling as well as the growing area of living will be also topics that will play a role.

Event programme

According to Maik Fischer, interzum director, interzum will not only place an emphasis on the trade show as a marketplace, but also as a platform for inspiration, discussions and new ideas to be formed.

interzum’s claim ‘Shaping the Change’ and the global guiding theme ‘Neo-ecology’ will thus be taken up in the diverse event programme.

With the global keynote theme “Neo-ecology”, interzum will focus in particular on the issues surrounding climate protection and future-oriented planning, because they are crucial for successful innovations in the long term.

With sustainable products and production processes, many companies in the supplier industry are already assuming social responsibility today. That is why interzum is putting an even stronger focus on these topics to drive forward the joint dialogue that produces new solutions.

Themed special shows, the interzum Trend Forums, will show how creatively and flexibly the supplier industry is responding to the challenges of current times.

In the context of central trends, current topics in the furniture and interior design industry will be presented to an international trade audience.

With the Product Stage and the interzum Trend Stage, interzum offers additional opportunities for exhibitor and product presentation as well as the discussion of market and design-relevant future topics.

New hall structure

Thematically, interzum is divided into the three established product areas: Function and Components, Materials and Nature, and Textile and Machinery.

This structure aims to bring the players in the value-added chains closely together and create a good overview for exhibitors and visitors. At the same time, a new hall layout will ensure greater efficiency. The goal is an even better visitor experience.

“We have brought the segments closer together spatially on our site so that visitors need less time to get from A to B. We are also using the new hall layout for the first time. And we are also using the newly built Hall 1 for the first time for the Materials & Nature area. Many great companies will be presenting themselves here, including some that were previously represented in Hall 6,” explained Fischer.

interzum 2023 will also take a hybrid event approach with interzum @home. The physical presence in Cologne will be supplemented by a digital event, thus creating additional added value.

Entry tickets

According to Fischer, ticket entries into interzum 2023 will be in a digital format, unlike physical format like previous editions.

To enter the hall, visitors must download the interzum app to access the digital ticket. Only with the app and the digital ticket will anybody be able to enter the premises.
