The project, Verde, was designed by leading South Australian architects Proske using the latest evolution in sustainable building materials, cross laminated timber (CLT), for the construction. It is also a joint venture between family-owned developer, FA Mamac, and builders Morgan and Hansen.

Construction is well underway with 620 tons of CLT imported from Austria to the port of South Australia where it will be used for load bearing walls, floors and ceilings of the residential apartments.

The choice of using CLT was due to its lifestyle benefits and construction benefits, said Morgan and Hansen managing director Andrew Morgan.

“As well as being extremely strong and solid, because timber is natural it helps to create a gentler and cosier living environment,” said Morgan.

“It also has significant environmental benefits and significantly lowers heating and cooling costs,” he said.

Manufactured using European technology, CLT is extremely strong and solid and because its natural creates a gentler and cosier living environment. It also has significant environmental benefits and significantly lowers heating and cooling costs.
