House XL constructed by SoNo Arhitekti
Located on the outskirts of a new residential area and designed for a fmaily of seven, House XL is conceptually formed from two parallel volumes and one connecting volume, which is placed perpendicularly to the other two. All the volumes are elongated with symmetrical gable roofs with the shortest volume extended into a roofed garage.
Completed by a Slovenian architect firm, SoNo Arhitekti, the three-storey building presents a living area enclosed with large glass surfaces that opens to the atrium to maintain the flowing communication between housing interior and surrounding nature. Tthe facade is composed with large-format panels – the connection volume in a lighter colour and the other two in darker.
In additon, larger glass surfaces are moved inwards and are combined with wood cladding. Placing over them is a pattern of vertical narrow wooden elements that also simultaneously function as sunscreens.
