The German machinery manufacturer will assume responsibility for manufacturing, global sales, service and research and development for the measurement systems.

Siempelkamp will take over production, global sales, service and research and development for SicoScan measurement systems from Electronic Wood Systems (EWS), following a change in ownership at EWS, a German company based in Hameln.
As part of the arrangement, Siempelkamp will manufacture the SicoScan product line in-house and distribute it worldwide. EWS will remain the point of contact for its direct customers, continuing to provide products, service, maintenance and installation, while independently distributing its wider portfolio.
With immediate effect, service for existing Siempelkamp systems has been integrated into the company’s global service network. Qualified Siempelkamp technicians will provide support independently of EWS.
Customers will retain exclusive control over digital connections to Siempelkamp’s Prod-IQ process control system, including remote access permissions. The same applies to online connections between the evaluation unit and the programmable logic controller (PLC).
Integration to support further development in measurement technology
The integration forms part of Siempelkamp’s ongoing organisational realignment, which aims to clarify responsibilities for customers and the market while supporting the long-term development of SicoScan systems.
Siempelkamp says the move completes its measurement technology portfolio and provides a basis for further developing the systems in line with customer needs. Originally conceived to support autonomous, self-optimising production plants, the technology is intended to help improve process control and production efficiency.
One of the systems, SicoScan NEO, analyses basis weight distribution at high resolution and detects foreign particles directly after the prepress. According to Siempelkamp, it enables the company’s adaptive spreading system to operate within a closed-loop control system, maintaining consistent spreading accuracy without human intervention.
Integrated data processing also enables more precise control of the system. Following years of industrial use in medium-density fibreboard (MDF) production, Siempelkamp is now offering the solution for oriented strand board (OSB) and particleboard manufacturing.
