After two successful greenfield particleboard projects – Giriu Bizonas in 2005 for Lithuania and VMG-Mogilev in Belarus 2010, Kalipedos Madiena (VMG) has now ordered a third complete plant.
The new plant, located in Akmene, Lithuania, will be Europe’s most modern particleboard production line. It will produce 2,000m3 of boards per day and supply the furniture and kitchens industry in the Baltics, mostly for IKEA products. It will begin operations in 2020.
The core component of the plant will be the 45.4m Generation 9 ContiRoll®. Besides the latest press technology, glue application and spreading technology will also feature strongly in this line. All common European board formats will be produced on the downstream cooling, stacking and cut-to-size line before being processed into furniture components. The SIEMENS S7-1500 TIA control system will also be used as well as the “Prod-IQ next” control system, presented at the LIGNA 2017.
Resource efficiency, good boards and high energy efficiency are the core requirements of this project. Low formaldehyde technology will also be one of the key characteristics of this line.
“We are proud to implement such a project with our partner VMG,” said Ulrich Kaiser, Sales Director of Wood-New Plants Siempelkamp.
Siempelkamp subsidiaries Pallmann, CMC and Büttner will also be involved in the project while Sicoplan will supply all CAD capabilities, based on laser measurement technology to millimetre data of the real landscape topography.
“On behalf of the entire sales team, we would like to thank our client VMG for the repeated trust they have placed us again. We are pleased with the familiar professional and close cooperation with our long-standing partner,” concluded Hans-Joachim Galinski, Sales Director Eastern Europe.
