Second Woodtech Damietta highlights Egypt’s potential as a furniture hub

The second Woodtech Damietta 2017 welcomed more than 4,000 trade visitors keen on making new business contact.

The three-day event held in Ras El Bar, Damietta also hosted international brands such as Egger, Blum, Alvic, Hettich, Kessebohmer, Grass, Italianna Ferramenta, Hafele, SCM Group, Biesse, Felder, as well as Egyptian companies like Good Wood, Aro Art, Siro Mirs, AboKhaled, El Badry, Hanimex, El Arabi.

Woodtech is supported by the Chamber of Commerce of Damietta, from the Chamber of Woodworking Furniture Industry and Association of the Egyptian Architects. It was organised in cooperation with IMC (Industrial Modernization Center). It comes at a time when the Damietta Furniture City is under construction, attracting a large number of foreign investors to Egypt.

From Nov 11 – 13, over 500 B2B meetings took place between exhibitors and trade visitors, who came from Cairo, Alexandria, Mansura, Port Said and Damietta. International visitors were mostly from Malaysia, Kenya, Ghana, Russia and Tunisia.

Fringe events and seminars

Woodtech Damietta had the honour to host design professors from Applied Arts Faculty from Helwan University, the Furniture Academy in Berlin, the president of Egyptian Architects Society and executives from Egger, Hafele, SCM Group and Imos.

Prominent speakers presented case studies on furniture styles, innovation management, lighting, new trends for surfaces and modern technologies for manufacturers.

The next Woodtech will be held in Cairo, February 16 – 18, 2018. The European Panel Federation will hold a two-day conference at Cairo International Convention Centre, Nefertiti Hall.
