Russia’s lumber export value increases by 17.7 per cent in first seven months of 2018

In January-July 2018, Russia sees a healthy growth in both value and volume of its sawn timber exports, based on statistics released by the Russian Federal Customs Office.

As reported by globalwood.org, the first seven months of the current year see Russia exporting 11.132 million tonnes of sawn timber, a 5 per cent growth compared to the same period last year.

The total value of the exported Russian sawn timber also rose. In January-July, total value reached $2.638 billion, rising by 17.7 per cent.

On the other hand, Russian log exports fell in volume terms, but increased in value terms. In January-July 2018, the Russian log exports reached 10.54 million m3, declining by 4.5 per cent year-on-year.

The total value of the Russian logs exported in January-July 2018 hits $885.9 million, a 5.7 per cent more than the same period in 2017.
