Russia: Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes temporary ban on particleboard exports

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation (Minpromtorg) has proposed to introduce a temporary ban on the particleboard exports from 1 July 2021 to 31 December 2021. The corresponding draft government decree was published on the Federal Portal of Draft Normative Legal Acts.

In 2020, Russia’s particleboard production decreased by 1.5%, while exports increased by 16.2%. At the same time, in the second half of 2020, there was a significant increase in demand for particleboard from furniture manufacturers.

Unlike flexible furniture production, the board industry is represented by large mills that cannot quickly increase production volumes.
