Manufacturers in Changzhou, China, have found a lucrative market in rural China for flooring with e-sales topping RMB1.5 billion in 2015, according to the ITTO. Significant sales was recorded in Henglin Town as the local administration strives to create public awareness of ‘green’ home furnishing. There are also plans to establish an integrated platform for sales, inspection, testing and manufacturing cluster innovation.
Traditionally, the main export markets for Changzhou manufacturers are the U.S., Russia and Canada. In 2015, export sales to these three countries were US$180 million with over 30% destined for the U.S. market. However, the volume of flooring exports from the city has been declining in recent years as flooring enterprises begin selling to the domestic markets and via the Internet.
