Obtala: As sawmill operations in Gabon rise, so does revenue

Obtala Ltd, a forestry and timber group, saw a substantial rise in half-year revenues as its sawmill in Gabon pushed up production. Sales in the first six months of the year stood at US$6.6 million, with a US$1.15 million swing to a gross profit of US$347,000, though the bottom line was impacted by issues still ongoing in Mozambique, East Africa, where’s Obtala’s operations have taken a hit, according to Proactiveinvestors.

Obtala is presently strategically reviewing its operations in Mozambique and Tanzania, and will close any businesses making losses, redirecting the capital from these operations to Gabon and the Ivory Coast, where a kiln drying operation is being set up.
