New Zealand logs piling up in China

While Chinese borders are not closed to New Zealand logs, there are issues with oversupply, and logs backing up at Chinese ports. Demand for new logs is falling as a result, said the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries.

Forestry contractors warn 30 per cent of New Zealand’s logging crews are not harvesting as a result, reported RNZ.

Government agencies are working on a support plan for the East Coast, which is being hit particularly hard.
