New model house in Dalian features Japanese Cedar and Cypress

The Japan Wood Products Export Association has completed the construction of a Japanese style model house in Dalian, China. The house is a two-storey post and beam wooden unit with 214.65 square metres of floor space.

Japanese Cedar and Cypress were used as structural members and in interior finishing, fixtures and furniture. The project is one of the Japan Forestry Agency’s aims to develop demand for Japanese timber in China.

The Chinese Wooden Construction Standards allows use of Japanese Cedar, Cypress and Larch as structural components. The sample unit is built under the advice and supervision of both Chinese and Japanese timber structure experts.
