Tap Potential Business Opportunities in the Emerging Market

The Myanmar Ministry of Construction plans to build over one million housing units in 20 years to meet market demand for residential real estate. The mounting demand for residential housing property is expected to fuel demand for furniture. Currently the demand for locally-produced furniture is rising and local furniture producers expect an increase in production as many condominiums and apartments are in the pipeline in major cities including Yangon in 2017-18, according to U Nyan Win, chairman of Timber-based Furniture Business Owners Association. Myanmar’s building and furniture industries are expected to keep growing at a relatively faster pace than other emerging markets through the end of 2019.

New Exhibit Sector for New Market

Over the past few years, foreign investment in the manufacturing industry has grown rapidly, with the annual growth rate surging sharply from 5% to 17.4% as of the end of 2015. In the same time, Myanmar government has lifted part of the restrictions on foreign investment in the automotive manufacturing industry, prompting such renowned automotive brands as Nissan, Hyundai, Daewood and Mitsubishi to establish automobile factories in Myanmar. With the promising prospects looming for Myanmar’s manufacturing industry, we have launched a new exhibit sector of machine tools to help exhibitors explore new business opportunities in Myanmar. We expect that MYANMARMACHTOOL will serve to drive the development of Myanmar’s manufacturing industry.
