MTCC debuts at MIFF Furniverse 2021

In line with its continuous effort to reach out to timber industry players and increase awareness on forest and timber certification, the Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC) is making its debut at the virtual business-to-business furniture fair, MIFF Furniverse 2021.

Taking place from 8 to 12 March, MIFF Furniverse offers an online sourcing alternative to global furniture buyers. To the uninitiated, MIFF Furniverse is the latest digital event experience by the Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF). MIFF is among the top furniture fairs across the globe, especially in South East Asia.

MTCC Chief Executive Officer, Yong Teng Koon said that such virtual trading experience is the go-to in today’s business sphere and an ideal platform for the council to consistently connect and update industry players in these challenging times.

“This real-time platform is an opportunity for us to reach out to more industry players beyond boundaries and raise awareness on certified or sustainably sourced timber from Malaysia and their applications,” said Yong.

“The pandemic-hit situation has inevitably caused many businesses to re-strategise to weather the impact. So, we see this as a timely opportunity to share insights at our virtual booth with conscious businesses and encourage them to consider certified timber throughout their supply chains,” he added.

Seventy exhibitors showcased their products at the first edition of MIFF Furniverse in August 2020. According to the event website, MIFF Furniverse 2020 generated 2,468 business leads and attracted 922 total visits of buyers – mainly furniture importers, wholesalers and retailers – from 84 countries. It has also successfully engaged new buyers who have not been to MIFF. Among the highly demanded products last year were bedroom and living room furniture.
