As Indonesia’s first official shipment of FLEGT-licensed timber nears the UK, further timber companies are announcing they are to receive some of the products.
Recently, Plaut International, James Latham and Falcon Panel Products declared their excitement about preparing to receive the first shipment – due to arrive around January 3 – comprising products including plywood and door blanks.
Now Brentwood-based Wood InternationalAgency Ltd has also revealed that it too will be placing FLEGT-licensed plywood – from Kayu Lapis Indonesia Group (KLI) that is on the first shipment – onto the UK market.
And Timber Connection has already received an initial FLEGT-licensed shipment, with some machined Dark Red Meranti arriving on December 13. The company is also expecting some yellow balau decking in late January.
Will Lindenberg, Wood International’s director, said the introduction of FLEGT-licensed plywood to the Wood International portfolio only served to further strengthen its offer.
“To have our products included in this first shipment of FLEGT-licensed timber is a proud moment for my company and for Indonesia,” said Buniadi Makmur, marketing director of KLI.
“We understand the importance of proof of legality through the supply chain. To now be able to supply our products with a FLEGT licence will give even greater confidence to our customers that our products meet all legislative requirements.”
Wood International Agency will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2017.
