Metsa Wood completes labour negotiations to reduce workforce

Metsä Wood has completed the statutory labour negotiations to implement a new target organisation model at all of its Kerto® LVL and plywood mills, according to a company press release.

48 people will be asked to leave beginning the first quarter of this year, as part of the company’s industrial efficiency strategy to improve production excellence and increased labour flexibility at its production units in Finland.

Metsä Wood’s sawmills introduced the new target organisation model during 2015 and the new salary system on 1 January 2016. Metsä Wood produces environmentally-friendly lumber for construction, industrial customers and distributor partners. It is part of the Metsä Group.
