Kastamonu ships first batch of laminate flooring to China

Kastamonu Entegre has shipped the first batch of laminate flooring produced at the Alabuga SEZ plant (Republic of Tatarstan) to China.

Since the launch of the wood processing plant in the Alabuga SEZ, the company has produced and sold more than 7 million m2 of ТМ ‘Floorpan’ laminate flooring. The designed capacity of the laminate production is 20 million m2, and the company is expected to maximise this potential in 2016. After the launch of the second stage of the plant in early 2016 the production capacity of MDF/HDF boards will exceed 1 million m3 per year.

“We adhere to the approved development strategy and continue not only to ramp up production of wood boards, but also systematically expand sales geography in other countries,” said Vice-President Onur Güven.

He added that a very favourable situation for Russian-based manufacturers has developed despite the reduced capacity of the Russian laminates market. “Suppliers in Europe and China are unable to compete in terms of the price/quality ratio and so our products have became popular outside of Russia. Even such a specific laminate market full of local manufacturers as the Chinese market has become accessible for us. High quality, modern trendy decors and attractive prices form the basis for these consumers’ demand.”

Kastamonu’s CE European quality certificate and FSC-certified products also allow it to look optimistically to expand in the EU. Currently, 75% of the products at the plant are sold in Russia; the rest are shipped abroad.
