Industry leaders gather at built environment’s industry event

Opening ceremony of Architecture & Building Services 2021 and International Facility Management Conference 2021

Singapore’s three-day trade event on the Built Environment industry in Singapore, the Architecture & Building Services (ABS) 2021, returned with an additional co-located exhibition after a two-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Showcasing a total of seven exhibitions with Design Asia 2021 being the newest addition, ABS 2021 opened its doors on the morning of 24 Nov 2021 to visitors and conference delegates at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre. The opening was officiated by Guest-of-Honour Lim Biow Chuan, Member of Parliament for Mountbatten Constituency & Member of Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for National Development.

Member of Parliament Lim said during the opening ceremony: “The demand for excellence in facility management in relation to the exploitation period of buildings and built environment in general has fast-tracked in recent years. Facility management encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology.”

“The synergistic combination of exhibitions and conferences strengthens the cause and objectives of the ABS series, making it a must-attend event for all professionals in the architecture and building services industry in ASEAN.”

The three-day event will also witness the opening of the inaugural Design Asia Congress 2021 on 25 Nov by Guest-of-Honour associate professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State, Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Home Affairs. The finalists of the inaugural Design Asia Student Design Competition, held over a period of one year, will receive their awards and the industry’s accolades on stage at the official opening ceremony.
