Indonesia’s furniture industry ‘happy that TPP will not come into effect’

Furniture businesses in Indonesia are relieved that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will not come into effect as the US has now officially withdrawn its support, since manufacturers within this free trade zone would have a trading advantage over Indonesian exporters. Indonesia is not part of the TPP.

The Chairman of the East Java Association of Indonesian Furniture and Handicraft Industries said that without the TPP, Indonesia can better compete on a more level playing field when exporting to the US and other developed markets.
