Indonesia’s Minister for Industry Airlangga Hartarto has proposed tax relief measures for furniture exporters.
Funding will be secured from the Ministry of Finance, he said, at the opening of the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX).
The value of Indonesia’s timber exports is expected to rise to US$5 billion by 2020 due to robust demand from USA, Japan and Western Europe.
This comes as good news as expansion of the furniture and craft sector, being a labour intensive industry, is vital for job creation.
