Hymmen bids farewell to previous CEO Werner Pankoke

Werner Pankoke

Dr Werner Pankoke, entrepreneur and previous CEO of double belt press manufacturer Hymmen, has passed away at the age of 85 following a stroke.

Born on 29 Mar 1938, Dr Pankoke took over the family business back in 1967, and was instrumental in establishing Hymmen worldwide as a technology partner in the wood-based materials industry with the development of the continuous double belt press.

His entrepreneurial activity was recognised by Prof Hermann Simon’s ‘Hidden Champion’ award and by winning the ‘Challengers Award’ at the International Woodworking Fair in Atlanta, US.

Father of two and grandfather of six, Dr Pankoke retired from the family business in 2002 and handed over the management of the company to his son Dr René Pankoke, who is now the fourth generation to run the Hymmen company.
