Homag Group to shut down Hemmoor plant in Germany

Homag Group’s Supervisory Board approved shutting down production at its Hemmoor site, Germany, effective December 31, 2020. The workforce at Hemmoor is around 200 employees and around 150 jobs are to be reduced there, according to its press release.

The products currently manufactured in the Hemmoor plant will be taken over by other plants in the Homag Group production network in Germany and Poland, thus the entire product portfolio will be retained.

Homag Group is taking these measures to proactively counter the structural capacity surplus within Germany, and to take into account the expansion of capacity in growth markets. Around 83 per cent of the company’s sales are made outside Germany.

Homag Group AG is the world’s leading supplier of integrated solutions for production in the woodworking industry and woodworking shops.
