Hardwood flooring manufacturer AHF Products completes major expansion

Hardwood flooring manufacturer AHF Products officially opened its new 85,000-square foot distribution centre on 22 November in Randolph County, North Carolina.

The new space at the Beverly-based plant, formerly owned by Armstrong Flooring, will add manufacturing capacity with the potential of creating 50 jobs over the next 10 years. The plant currently employees an estimated 600 area residents, reported Metro News.

“We’re very excited about the expansion,” AHF Plant Manager Blaine Emery said. “This is a great development for AHF Products because it allows us to grow our capabilities at this plant and continue to be a major contributor to the economy of this region.”

Emery said the large plant had a small docking facility for distribution prior to the project. The new space will allow them to distribute their projects right from Randolph County.

“We used to have a smaller warehouse with a couple dock doors. We added 85,000 square feet and it allows us the ability to do cross-docking and now we no longer have to ship our material to Dickson, Tennessee to a distribution centre we have there only to ship it back to the east coast,” Emery said.

AHF purchased the plant in late 2018 which had been around for nearly 30 years. It is the largest pre-finished solid hardwood flooring plant in the country.

The project was financed through the company along with the U.S. Economic Development Administration, West Virginia Economic Development Authority and the Randolph County EDA.

Morris said AHF will play a key role in the future development of the county.
