Positive Growth in the Furniture Industry

The global furniture trade is expected to grow 1% and 5% in 2016 and 2017 respectively, according to Milan-based Centre for Industrial Studies (CSIL). Singapore’s furniture industry has also seen a positive growth of 7.4% between 2012 and 2015, according to the Singapore Furniture Industries Council. Together with the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015, businesses in the region are set to ride the wave of growth in ASEAN.

New Collaboration and Co-location with IFFS

For the first time furniPRO Asia has been brought forward to the early quarter of the year, to be held alongside the International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS), The Décor Show and SingaPlural as part of the ASEAN furniture exhibition circuit and the Singapore Design Week. This collaboration will bring a strong collective offering to the industry – with exhibits ranging from woodworking and primary processing technologies, to finished furniture and interior products – all in one location.

Key Highlight – The ‘Innovation of Interior’ Showcase

Premiering out of interzum cologne, the ‘Innovation of Interior’ showcase in the middle of Hall 1 will be a key highlight. This special exhibition for architects, interior and industrial designers displays a unique, future-oriented range of products, as well as other innovative ideas and design options. The ‘Innovation of Interior’ showcase will commence with an Interior Designer Day on March 10, which includes a talk on the 4th Industrial Revolution by Dr Peters, as well as a presentation on 3D Printing by René Gurka, CEO of BIG Rep GmbH. On March 11 and 12, the Singapore Furniture Industries Council Institute (SFIC Institute) will organise additional workshops on Future Materials and 3D Printing. These will be conducted by Dr Peters and Diana Drewes from Haute Innovation, as well as Amir Fattal, Director of Creative Projects for BIG Rep GmbH.

Other highlights include Exhibitor Talks, C-Level Networking Receptions, a customised Hosted Buyers’ and Business Matching Programme as well as a specially organised Buyers’ Tour in collaboration with supporting associations and industry partners.
