First veneer mill to cease production in Myanmar due to logging suspension

The first casualty of the logging suspension in Myanmar has emerged.

A veneer mill in Myeik, a town in the southern part of Myanmar, has ceased operation and the CEO said milling would only resume if raw materials become available. Analysts commented that the mill was aware of the likelihood of a logging suspension, but did not secure stocks to allow production to be maintained.
