Final call for entries for the MTCC photography contest

Submission of entries for the Malaysian Timber Certification Council’s (MTCC) inaugural photography contest will be closed on the 15th of October, Sunday. Themed Experience Forest, Experience MTCC-PEFC, the contest aims to spark an appreciation for forests through photography.

The three categories of the contest are:

  • Category one – Forests and People: Participants are required to capture images of people involved in the field of forestry who are responsible for the sustainable management and well-being of Malaysia’s forest resources. They may include images of people at work, such as foresters, forest rangers, forest researchers, auditors, and indigenous peoples.
  • Category two – Forest and Forest Landscape: Participants are required to submit shots that capture a forest’s natural beauty, diversity, and uniqueness in form and structure.
  • Category three – Forest and Animal: Participants are invited to capture images of animals in the wild, including amphibians, birds, mammals, and reptiles.

The ‘People and Forest’ category is dedicated to people involved in the field of forestry responsible for the sustainable management of Malaysia’s forest resources such as foresters, forest rangers, forest researchers, auditors and the indigenous people of Malaysia.

The first prize in each category will receive RM1,200 (US$285). There will also be two merit prizes of RM600 (US$142) each per category, and five consolation prizes of RM200 (US$47) each per category. The grand prize winner will receive RM2,000 (US$474).

The photography contest is open to all Malaysian citizens, and participants may submit up to ten images per category.
