The company will develop and manufacture products in China for the domestic market and neighbouring regions while maintaining its existing production operations in Germany.

Fagus-GreCon is expanding its operations in China by introducing a local-for-local manufacturing strategy, under which products will be developed and produced locally for the Chinese market and neighbouring regions with similar requirements.
The company said the initiative is intended to strengthen local manufacturing, technical support and maintenance services, enabling faster response times, shorter supply chains and closer engagement with customers.
The strategy complements Fagus-GreCon’s existing international manufacturing network and will not replace products manufactured at its headquarters in Alfeld, Germany. The company said no production will be transferred from Germany. Instead, the new approach will focus on developing market-specific products to expand its existing portfolio.
Responding to changing market needs
Fagus-GreCon said the Chinese market has evolved significantly in recent years, with customers placing greater emphasis on products designed to meet local operating conditions, technical standards and manufacturing processes.
Rather than offering simplified product variants, the company said it will develop solutions tailored specifically to regional requirements while drawing on the group’s global engineering expertise.
“Local-for-local is not a replacement for our existing structures, but a targeted extension of our international corporate strategy. We are combining the technological expertise of the entire Fagus-GreCon Group with local market knowledge, enabling us to create additional solutions for China and neighbouring regions,” said Alexander Kuppe, managing director of Fagus-GreCon.
“Our customers expect products that deliver a high level of technical performance while also meeting specific local requirements. Local manufacturing, support and maintenance allow us to respond more quickly and align our solutions even more closely with the market,” added Timo Ren, managing director of GreCon China.
