VIPs and visitors of Sylva Wood attending the opening ceremony.
On the 25th of June, the fourth edition of the Sylva Wood officially opened at the exhibition hall of Shanghai Mart in Shanghai, China.
The first day of Asia’s only specialised wood material trade fair was a bustling scene as local and international visitors mingled with exhibitors from countries such as Russian wood suppliers — which forms the Russian Pavilion, American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), French Timber, Canada Wood, the Shanghai Timber Trade Association, American Softwoods, Malaysian Timber Council, Quebec Wood Export Bureau, Smaland of Sweden and Thai Timber Association. They showcased a diverse variety of wood materials and wood-based products.
Majority of visitors were professional buyers or from wood associations from the flooring, furniture, doors and windows, interior furnishing and timber trading sectors, with a good mix of international visitors coming from countries such as Austria, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, USA and Uruguay.
Feedback from exhibitiors were generally positive as the show continued to attract quality visitors from professional timber trade and potential buyers.
What they say:
“We are pleased to be an exhibitor this year as the trade show provided much information as we connect with our supplies and customers. As Asia only wood material show, it has brought us sales opportunities. As the wood industry continued to develop, we also faced adjustment periods where we need to better understand our suppliers’ and customers’ tendencies. Only by attending the show would you get to hear from them, so the show is important. ”
Xu Xue Dong, Shanghai A.M. Forest Products Co. Ltd
“Speaking on behalf of the American’s softwoods industry, China is America’s largest import market, so whether be it for construction or making furniture, there is a huge demand for softwood. We have seen how Sylva Wood has progressed over the years, so the quality of exhibitor, quantity and professionalism of the visitors has been improving. It is rare to see an international trade show in China which can gather sales, suppliers and buyers from so many different countries. We will continue to participate in the future.”
Xu Fang, Director of American Softwoods
This is our third time being an exhibitor at Sylva Wood. Although the show has just started, but we can already sense that it is better! The main motivation for Smaland of Sweden to participate in this show is because Sylva Wood is the most professional show in China, and we have leveraged on this platform to seek out more opportunities. We will want to continue to be part of future editions of Sylva Wood. ”
Wang Zhi, Smaland of Sweden
“We joined the show as exhibitor this year to promote wood materials from Ningbo on an international platform. We have previously participated as visitors. So this year, we came especially as exhibitors to bank on the current positive trends. ”
Wang Dong, Ningbo Timber Park Management Company
“Canada Wood has been participating as exhibitor for all editions, and we have had good outcomes for the past three years. This year, we are joining Sylva Wood to showcase our newly established Wooden Furniture and Processing department, and we want the new team to understand the current market. We think that it is good for the companies and associations to take part in the show in this manner.
Also, we find that the seminars and the speakers have been very helpful for us, we will certainly sit in for the seminars. ”
Tao Liang, Canada Wood
