European wood furniture testing lab Catas opens “Catas Point” in Pesaro, Italy

The Marche region is reportedly one of the most important areas in Italy for the furniture production sector, as it is home to many brands that keep up the “Made in Italy” flag across the world. Catas, the leading European testing laboratory for the wood furniture sector, has set up its first “Catas Point” in Pesaro to be closer to the companies operating in the region.

Catas Point aims to provide these companies with a reference point that makes it easier to take advantage of the experience and expertise of the laboratory which was set up 50 years ago in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and 25 years ago in Brianza, in Lissone (Monza Brianza).

Franco Bulian, director of the laboratory, commented that this decision was “made possible thanks to the partnership with Manifaktura, a start-up founded in Pesaro by Francesco Balducci and Alessandra Cecchini, innovation managers who have a long experience, at national and international level, in the furniture sector and who have always been close to the experience and activities of Catas.”

“Their competence, their experience and their proximity to many companies with which we have been collaborating for many years will allow us to be even more effective as well as to make our skills available to all those who can need it,” continued Bulian.

“We are proud to have the chance to cooperate even more strongly and directly with an important institution as Catas is,” added Alessandra Cecchini and Francesco Balducci added. “Our experience in the sector of testing, certification and business consultancy has allowed us to get to know very well the companies of the various furniture districts of the Marche and the neighboring regions. We are confident that the opportunity to provide a direct access to the services of absolute excellence that Catas offers, through the “Catas Point” in Pesaro, will create new opportunities for the development and growth of this important industrial area.”

The Pesaro “Catas Point” information office will allow companies to be referred for several services: from laboratory tests to assistance for the technical standards application; the prestigious “Catas Quality Award” and “Made in Italy by Catas” product certifications; the increasingly requested tests on emissions; coating systems and surfaces for playgrounds; fire reaction tests; high-level training opportunities for company staff; organisation of events, technical meetings, assessments and declarations of conformity on the subject of “GPP-Furniture”; investigations into product defects up to the “Risk Assessment” of furniture, including electrified ones; or applied research on products and materials under development.
