EU plywood imports from Malaysia and Indonesia in the first 11 months of 2015 were down 7% and 2% respectively, according to the ITTO. Total imports from Malaysia and Indonesia amounted 101,200m3 and 98,900m3 respectively. Exports from China increased 3% to 85,000m3 while Brazil sold 16% more, amounting 16,100m3.
Total imports of tropical plywood amounted 367,000 m3. The value of plywood rose +8.7% to €194.1 million during this period as import prices were higher in 2015 due to the weak Euro. The Euro was on average 16% down on the Dollar in 2015 compared to 2014.
