Next week’s Dubai WoodShow 2016 will give special attention to’green buildings’ and highlight sustainable wood solutions over the three-day show which opens Monday, April 4, said the organisers.
Visitors will learn about wood as a sustainable material, said Dawood Al Shezawi, CEO of Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions, the event’s organiser.
Much of the focus centre on reducing a building’s energy consumption as well as reducing the negative impacts on human health.
“Choosing building materials that exhibit positive environmental attributes is also a major area of focus. Unlike metals and fossil-fuel-based products such as plastics, wood has various environmental benefits especially when used in construction,” said Al Shezawi.
He added that the upcoming show will show how wood is produced and used in a sustainable way, mainly in construction, which accounts for around 70% of wood demand in the Gulf. International experts will give insights on this topic and help the industry understand the importance of following sustainable practices.
“Estimates show that mega building contracts are expected to be awarded in the coming period which puts more focus on the importance of growing and consuming wood sustainably.
“A wide range of efficient, durable, and useful wood products will be on display at the Dubai WoodShow 2016,” he concluded.
