As the US raises duties on Canadian softwood lumber, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced in Aug a series of measures to support the forestry sector, including investments in innovation, domestic capacity and workforce development.
To understand how these initiatives could help stabilise the industry, Panels & Furniture Asia spoke with Bruce St John, president of Canada Wood, a non-profit body that promotes the use of Canadian timber in construction and manufacturing in offshore markets such as Japan, Korea and China.
