China is banning the import of wood waste according to a joint press release from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Development and Reform Commission and The General Administration of Customs.
By the end of 2018, 32 kinds of solid waste such as scrap hardware, scrap automobile parts, smelting slag and waste plastic will be banned. Another category involves wood residue, which will be banned as of 31 December 2019.
In July last year, China rolled out plans to reduce the type and volume of solid waste imported. It will enforce these measures together with the relevant departments.
