China’s wood-based panel imports in 2016 rose 31 per cent to 1.4 million cubic metres in 2016, valued at US$450 million, a YoY increase of 21 per cent.
Particleboard were the main products, accounting for 65 per cent of total wood-based panel imports. The volume of particleboard import was 900,000 cubic metres valued at US$180 million, up 42 per cent and 31 per cent respectively.
72 per cent of China’s particleboard were shipped from Thailand (290,000 cbm), Malaysia (220,000 cbm) and Romania (150,000 cbm). The increases are 115 per cent, 13 per cent and 6 per cent respectively.
These products were mainly shipped through Tianjin (220,000 cbm), Shanghai (180,000 cbm), Huangpu (140,000 cbm) and Shenzhen Customs (120,000 cbm).
