China demand for Cameroon wood products expected to surge in 2Q/2017

Cameroon exporters are quietly optimistic of an upward trend in prices early next year despite unsettling times.

Stocks of so-called “promotional log species” are rising and said to be around 70,000m3. These timbers are mostly catered for Asian buyers but few are showing much interest at present.

Middle Eastern buyers are the most active at present while others observed a slow but steady increase in buying activity in China.

Most are expecting export volumes to go up in the second quarter of 2017.
