Indian wood-based panel producer Century Ply is in the final stages of completing its MDF plant in Hoshiarpur, an investment worth Rs four billion (US$60 Mn).
The plant will have an annual capacity of 198,000cbm, making it to one of the largest MDF plants in the country. Expansion of the additional two lines in its laminates unit is expected to be completed in the current financial year.
The company is also planning to set up a door manufacturing unit with a Chinese company. The name of its Chinese partner and investment value is undisclosed.
Century Plyboards is one of the largest plywood manufacturers in India. The company has seven manufacturing units at Joka,West Bengal; Guwahati, Assam; Kandla, Gujarat; Chennai, Tamil Nadu; Karnal, Haryana; Roorkee, Uttarakhand; and Myanmar. The Myanmar and the Roorkee units are held through subsidiaries.
