As of 8 Sep 2023, Canada Wood Group and Wuxi Urban Construction Development Group have renewed a strategic cooperation memorandum at the Vancouver headquarters of Canada Wood Group.
Witnessed by the Party Secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Fei Shaoyun, Tang Jinsong, chairman of the Board of Directors of Wuxi Urban Development Group, and Bruce St John, president of Canada Wood Group, signed the memorandum.
According to Canada Wood, this memorandum unites the two organisations with a shared focus on technological innovation and dual-carbon development, strategically aligned with China’s dual-carbon objectives.
The collaboration’s core involves joint R&D efforts centered around localised standard systems and processes in the realm of prefabricated building technology, specifically emphasising green building and wood structural products.
The aim is to propel the growth and environmentally conscious transformation of modern wood structure construction, encompassing residential, commercial, and office sectors. This pivotal initiative will serve as a solid platform for future expansion within the Yangtze River Delta region and beyond.
This memorandum also marks an extension of the two parties’ prior collaboration, where they came together to create the Wuxi Xuelang Town Data Innovation Center project.
This Sino-Canadian modern wood structure demonstration, featuring a 2+3 story hybrid concrete and wood structure funded by Natural Resources Canada, showcases the practical application and technical viability of Canadian wood and heavy wood structure construction technology in multi-storey public buildings.
Wuxi Urban Development Group, a state-owned enterprise based in Wuxi City, specialises in urban development, renewal, rural revitalisation, and ecological conservation. Their specialty extends to innovative wood structure materials and green architecture, driving the adoption of prefabricated wood structure construction in the market.
