Brazil wood sector exports updates

Brazilian exports of wood-based products (except pulp and paper) rose 12.2 per cent in March 2017 compared to the same period in 2016 to reach US$226.6 Mn.

Pine sawn wood exports climbed 18 per cent between March 2016 and March 2017 to US$39.2 Mn. Export volume also increased 12.5 per cent over the same period, from 171,900 cbm to 193,400 cbm.

Tropical sawnwood exports fell four per cent from 36,100 cbm to 34,600 cbm during this period. The value of exports dropped 8.5 per cent to US$15.3 Mn over the same period.

Pine plywood exports increased 18 per cent to US$43.1 Mn. In terms of volume exports increased 12 per cent over the same period to 159,300 cbm.

Tropical plywood exports increased significantly in volume and value, from 11,300 cbm (US$ 4.5 million)
in March 2016 to 13,900 cbm (US$ 5.4 million) in March 2017.

For the first time in months exports of wooden furniture rose 11.5 per cent to US$ 41.8 Mn.
