Wooden furniture exports from Brazil rose from US$36.2 million in May 2016 to US$42.2 million in May 2017, an increase of nearly 17 per cent.
In the first five months of this year wooden furniture exports rose 7 per cent year-on-year according to the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC). Exports by the furniture sector reached US$242.5 million during this period.
Wooden furniture exports for 2017 is forecast to be around eight per cent higher compared to last year. If this growth is achieved it will be the first rise in furniture exports since 2010.
The main markets for Brazil-made furniture are the United States, the United Kingdom and Argentina.
