Belarus: 2020 timber exports exceed $120 million

The Belarusian Forestry Ministry’s press service has announced that Belarusian forestries have earned more than $120 million from the export of wood and timber products since the start of 2020, reports BelTA.

“Products of Belarusian forestries are becoming increasingly popular on foreign markets. Since the start of 2020 foreign buyers have purchased wood and timber products worth more than $120 million. This is $10 million up from the same period last year,” said the ministry.

Sawn wood accounts for more than 66% of the total export, and there is also global demand for wood chips, technological rawwood and pellets.

In 2020, organisations affiliated to the Forestry Ministry have sold goods and services to more than 30 countries, with the main trading partners being Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Romania, Germany and China.
